Tea & Chat is a community group for over 50's meeting at St Paul's Church. They have a varied programme including line dancing with Norma, listening to speakers and entertainers as well as enjoying crafts & games. In addition they deal with health issues and safety in the home.

They have an annual coach outing to a place of interest, as well as visiting places nearer to home e.g Sherborne Museum and the Abbey Festival. On occasions they have a spring or autumn trip to a garden centre. Every week they enjoy a cup of tea and homemade cake provided by the WI.

The award will be used to repay their reserve fund for the cost of the coach that took them on this years' outing, a trip to Brownsea Island. The outing involved a coach and ferry journey, plus entry to the island and refreshments.

Award Revisited

When the award was presented Sarah Fricker, the Administrator for St Paul's Church who runs the Tea & Chat Group, said that they had already visited Brownsea Island on the 22nd June. The group had a great day even although it rained and was miserable in the morning it cleared up in the afternoon with glorious sunshine. The bus they used was paid for from their reserve fund as they knew the award money was on its way. The Community Fund award will therefore go back into their reserve fund to replenish it.

She has since emailed a photograph of the group on Brownsea Island during their visit. As you can see it was obviously taken during the morning judging from the sky and clothing.
