How the award |
The award will go towards the cost of fees and associated costs to enable eleven air cadets to undertake Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Seven will undertake the bronze award. This entails at least 3 months voluntary work in the local community, at least 6 months of a physical activity and an expedition (walking 21 miles in 2 days). The physical challenge takes place on the Isle of Wight so the associated costs include the ferry and campsite charges. Four other cadets will complete the Gold Award. This entails at least 12 months voluntary work, 12 months of one physical activity and 6 months of another and a 4 day expedition. The cadets hope to undertake the physical challenge in Canada or Italy so the associated costs include the flight charges. The cadets themselves are undertaking numerous fundraising projects to raise the remaining funds needed. |
