How the award |
Future Roots provide a community farm animal assisted therapy and life skills for those people who have diversity in their lives. With over 30 ‘Countrymen’ with illnesses like dementia, Parkinson’s or have had strokes and more than 80 youngsters who have difficulties in life and/or have poor mental health attending Rylands Farm, Future Roots needs to make sure they are safe in the activities they undertake.
The award will therefore be used to ensure there are enough sizes of boots available and equipment that is light weight and strong whilst meeting the needs of each individual. In addition it will be used to assist their mobility around the farm. The award will enable Future Roots purchase different sizes of steel toe-capped boots from sizes 3 -12, 25 pairs in all, at £20.00 each plus 4 special wheelbarrows of different weights at £78 each. In addition it will help to pay for concreting a pathway for mobility chairs to travel along between the workshop and the countryman’s barn.
The photograph was taken at Future Roots 10th anniversary celebration with two of the original students featured. Many of the other students who have attended Rylands Farm over the past decade and staff make up the group photograph. |
