How the award |
The Somerset & Dorset Family History Society are setting up a searchable database of photographs of named local people, which they hope will grow into a valuable resource for those seeking images of their relatives. They will be holding Photograph Open Days, when they can scan photographs and collect relevant information. Their experts will also advise on dating and caring for photographs. Their volunteers are allowing the society the use their personal equipment to start with, but the project is in desperate need of the two scanners and the relevant photographic software to allow it to continue in the longer term. The award will be used by the society to fund the purchase of one of the scanners and software. It will be raising the funds the second scanner and software through its own activities. |
