How the award
will be used

The award will be used to re-start and run a monthly Friendship Club event in Sherborne for the next year, including transport for those living in surrounding villages (by Sherborne Voluntary Ambulance).

One quarter of adults with learning disabilities spend less than one hour outside of their home every day. The Friendship Club overcomes this by providing everyday things that many of us take for granted: playing sports, attending a disco or community activities. Events are supported by volunteers and staff to ensure that friendships are sustained.

Report

Taking advantage of the monthly meeting of the Sherborne Friendship Club which continues to run thanks to the Community Fund award David Havard attended the clubs 'Curry Night' at Praprika Indian Restaurant in Sherborne. Whilst the club members tucked into their food David was able to help their funds further by presenting the retiring collection from the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles Christmas carol service. The cheque for £130 was presented by David to Laura Kerr the Project Manager from People First Dorset.
